Black Out: The Leather Skirt

It used to be that leather skirts were once thought of as being risqué, but presently leather has gone mainstream. It is not uncommon to see one teamed with a silky blouse at the office or paired with a chic turtleneck for cocktail hour.

Whether your preference is the daringness of a mini-skirt, the sophistication of a pencil skirt, the elegance of a midi skirt, or the stylish ease of a wrap skirt – each style has gotten a sumptuous update in rich supple leather for the fall.

They are a fusion of uptown elegance, edgy-meets-pretty and downtown attitude; would you wear it?

Hi Elle! Okay, I have to admit; I have had a slight obsession with leather skirts and pants recently. I have my eye on a pair of Vince leather pants that I am hoping will go on sale during a holiday promotion. I love that leather bottoms are so versatile and you can make an outfit appear elegant or edgy depending on your mood. Great post! ~ Lauren http://www.ginnysclosetblog.com

You’re so right about how versatile leather bottoms are! I saw a leather skirt online that was a soft pastel green and it was so pretty & elegant (should have included it in this post)! Then another skirt that was polar opposite – it featured a thigh-high slit & a series of gleaming exposed zippers, completely edgy!

lether skirts are tricky – specially if you want to wear the pencil one – tahn you have to be really slim to look good in it.

By the way – do you remember girls the episode from Friends, where Ross both himself pair of lether pants ? That was soooo funny 🙂

OMG – yes! Friends was the best show ever! Actually this post was kinda inspired from the episode “T.O.W Rachel’ s Sister Babysits” When Amy took Rachel’s leather skirt that Rachel planned to wear to work!
