New Trend Alert: Flare Jeans

New Trend Alert: Flare Jeans

Step out of your skinny jeans, fold and stow away your boyfriend jeans, because for Spring 2015 fashion is seeing the resurgence of the 1970s-inspired flare!

Whether you call them flare jeans or bellbottoms, they are the season’s must-have denim essential, and all you’ll need to rock this trend are items you probably already own within your wardrobe — a denim shirt (or maybe a silk blouse), a pair of wedges and a great handbag.

En Trend: The Colored Blazer

En Trend

You probably have a black blazer in your closet, but what about a cobalt blue or hot pink one?

Get inspired by celebs such as Solange and Blake Lively and create a chic and sophisticated look from this tricky trend. Throw a pop of color into you wardrobe with a brightly colored blazer! Both bold and modern the colored blazer is the easiest way to look sharp this summer. Are you up to this style challenge, is this a look that you would try?

Show Some Flare

Straight Into Style w/ Flare Jeans

Show some flare this season by trading in your skinny jeans for a dramatic flared hemline. This 70s inspired silhouette which teams perfectly with platform heels, balances curves and elongates the figure (a must-have if you’re petite). For a polished casual friday look for the office, style yours with a silk shirt, or a crisp button-down and a well tailored blazer.

Let’s Get Physical

In addition to selling designer dresses, fabulous shoes and must-have handbags, on July 9, the world’s premier online luxury fashion destination, Net-A-Porter is preparing to launch its new activewear category ‘Net-A-Sporter‘; with the promise of sportswear as chic as everything else in your closet.

Sporter 2

Once launched, this segment of the site will offer apparel suitable for virtually every sporty activity (tennis, yoga, ballet) which are easily translated from the gym to your everyday life. “It was important to us from the beginning that the pieces themselves were not only performance-based but that they could also be incorporated into our customers’ personal style” said Net-A-Porter’s president Alison Leohnis to The Telegraph. Net-A-Sporter will play host to brands like Stella McCartney for AdidasLucas Hugh and NIKE.

Net-A-Sporter will be premiering new activewear brands and also exclusive activewear brands that have not previously been available online and I can say with reasonable certainty, that these collections will be coveted by fitness enthusiasts who have the desire to be both fit and fashionable whilst working out.

Ombre or Tie Die

Ombre or Tie Die

Tired of your run-of-the-mill basic skinny jeans. Well, if you’re looking for a change a cool alternative would be a pair of ombre jeans or a pair of tie-die denim in a fun punchy color. A bit trendy i’ll admit, but would you don this look?

Red Carpet Report: Met Gala 2014

The Met Ball, arguably the most exclusive, glamorous and most extravagant date in the world of fashion took place last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC.

I seriously can’t believe we’re here already, it seems like I was only just pouring over the images from last year’s Gala. As you may (or may not) remember last year’s theme was “Punk: Chaos to Couture” which resulted in a slew of looks that won’t soon be forgotten!

This year’s theme however, was for more subdued, honoring the great American Couturier Charles James. The theme is stated as being “Charles James: Beyond Fashion” and as I understand it, the dress code for last night’s event was “white tie and decorations”.

There were so many great looks which I narrowed down to a few of my personal favorites.

Trend: Monochromatic

Rihanna
Rihanna bared her toned midriff and strutted with structured shoulders in white Stella McCartney.

Anna Kendrick
Anna Kendrick the picture of elegance in black & white J. Mendel. (She has never looked better!)

Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld stunned with athleticism meets couture in this racerback creation by Prabal Gurung.

Trend: Pretty In Pink

met gala rachel-mcadams
Rachel McAdams in a soft flowing pink gown by Ralph Lauren.

met gala reese-witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon highlighted her figure in hot pink Stella McCartney.

Trend: Couples Night Out

met gala couples charlize-theron-sean-penn
Charlize Theron & Sean Penn are complementary in black and white (Theron in figure hugging Dior).

Met Gala couples jay-z-beyonce
Jay-z & Beyonce both in Givenchy.

Met Gala couples david-beckham-victoria-beckham
David & Victoria Beckham (Posh in her namesake label whilst David donned Ralph Lauren Black Label).

Met Gala chrissy-teigen-john-legend
John Legend & Chrissy Teigan dapper and sophisticated (Chrissy in Ralph Lauren Collection).
